Live-in For Literacy is an annual event created to promote international literacy and to raise awareness for its importance in every child's life for learning and participation in society.
As students who are fortunate enough to receive education at post-secondary institutions, to have books, libraries, and other literary resources readily available to us, we believe that it is important for students in impoverished nations to have access to these same resources as we do.
Our goal is to bring literacy into the lives of hundreds of children every year, by raising funds to build school libraries, and other educational facilities in developing countries.
Two students must eat, sleep, and live in a designated area of their university library for seven consecutive days. During the seven days, they will be raising awareness about Live-in for Literacy and fundraising for our cause. Their experience will be recorded live on webcam
, to be viewed by audiences around the world.
